indeed but multiplier going to millions for me is an absurd. i understand they are doing a patch on this so next time we wont go for millions.

I did like the tutorial. But the IES operate only with the physical camera ON and does not work with the physically camera OFF as you mentioned.
If I turn off the camera physics, my render is all white snow;
If I leave the camera physically connected, the IES work;

aparantly different manufacturers has different datas.
For GE, awhich are correct and prefered data to be used you dont need to put that high your intensity. BUt as i have said its better to turn off the physcial camera as it will wash off the light effect.

are you using the new version 1.48.66? because this is the version that supports ies.

sir, i did the tutorial, yet i still get white rendering… if turn the physicalCAM off.. all i get is white… if i turn it on… the ies light don’t take effect… what happen? pls help me sir…

yup..most of the comments are right..i have this new vray version..and use the GE ies light particularly the one that is used in this tutorial..but when turning the Physical camera off..it turns all white from the 5000000 multiplier..cant also understand the fake ies..using an opacity map..to where do this map being placed?..to the circular plane below the receptacle?..hope mr.nomeradona will help us…

good day! am i right that i need sketchup 1.48.66 installer and sketchup vray 1.48.66 to use ies lighting? I will apreciate to much if you can send me a direct and easy download or site for this sketchup versin and vray version and also the ies light because i cant find a site that is free.

Sir, I’m a Newbie and I’m using V-Ray 1.48.89, i downloaded ies at gelighting.com and followed the steps of your tutorial….. only black image appeared(no image at all)…. Can you give me a tip or teach me basic lighting using ies lighting….. i’m also a fan of your works, and also a member of cgpinoy but im too shy to post my renderings (using skp7 + vray 1.50)…. Nawindang ako nung nagupgrade ako sa skp8 + V-Ray 1.48.89….. is ti me or parang ang laki ng pinagbago ng vray 1.48.89….. Thanks, Master….

Sir, why do the files that i downloaded from 4shared just contain *.JPG file, i couldn’t find the IES file there? But, thx for sharing by the way.. And why i can’t reduce the brightness of my IES light in vray? I’ve changed the amount of power and etc in the light editor, but no change in render. Sorry for my english..

you have to change a big increment to see the change. also try not to use the physical camera. btw i min the philippines now that is why i mansaged to answer this. i cant open this blog in vietnam.

hello. i followed the steps but when i render it’s just black. what is the exact IES that you loaded? that maybe the problem. and is the rendering options just default when the phy. camera and sky was removed?
btw. i used GE’s ies MR categoty on halogens

2 reasons: i am not really sure what is your vray version. some of the vray version i found you need to increase so much the multiplier in order to appear anmd second some ies data are not exact. so play on the multiplier.
