Candle Light Tutorial Using VraySU 1.48.66 up
I have written before a candle light tutorial using vray version 1.05. There were some slight changes that happened with the new Vray. Here is my tutorial with the new one.
1. Here is the SKP scene”candle only”. I modeled the candle using Sketchup.

2. Now you will need a candle light texture. I have done the diffuse texture and the opacity map texture
3. import the diffuse map texture and place it on the candle.

4. Next add Vray omni light. See the image below how I put mind.

Hope you like this.

I’m just wondering something…. When you create the candle light MATERIAL, where do you aply it? (on the picture inserted or on something new?) and if it’s on something new, how do you set the diffuse and emissive maps so they are scaled to the new object?
thank you!
p.s. i’m a newbie…

once the diffuse map has been applied, all the other maps will follow the diffuse map scale. so you have to do the scaling using sketchup. once you are satisfied with the scale, all you have to do is apply the rest.
be mindful with the image number 5. it tells you there were to apply the maps.

Great tutorial. But there is not anithing about candles material(sss/translucency). Please can you make this tutorial in new version of Vray for Sketchup – becouse it has any differences with later version of Vray. Can you? Thanks.

as for the new vray you dont have to do that. just use a png file and check use transparency. as for the old one put invert for both diffuse map and transparency map. please follow me at http://www.nomeradona@blogspot.com or http://www.vraysketchupresources.blogspot.com
